After two days in the mountains, Stage 3 Salt Lake Downtown Criterium gave the sprinters a chance to shine in the grueling five day stage
race. With time bonuses and points up for grabs, race leader’s team Garmin-Chipotle controlled the field for much of the race. Few efforts
got away but were all brought back after a few laps by the blistering pace of the Garmin-Chipotle keeping it together to the end. Six laps to
go, the sprinting
teams jockeyed for position to setup their riders for the stage win. At the end if was a duel between Freddy Rodriguez
(Rock Racing) and Successful Living’s sprint ace Ricardo Escuela. Initiating the drag race from 250 meters, Escuela lead out Rodriguez
who was unable to get around him before the line. Successful Living’s young gun Cody O’Reilly rounded out the top 10. This marks the 3rd
NRC win for Successful Living this season.
After three stages Successful Living’s Brad White retains the Sprint Leader green jersey.
